Each year our ambulances respond to more than 3,000 calls, providing assistance when emergency medical services are needed by you and your family.
Consider the following:
- Most users of the ambulance service never expect that they will need an ambulance.
- Ambulance is the safest and most immediate access to a hospital in an emergency.

The need for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the residents of our fire district is provided by the Talleyville Fire Company as one of the services identified as a critical community service. The Volunteer Fire Services throughout the State of Delaware provide such service in each of their communitie,
The Talleyville Fire Company provides EMS services on a 24 hour a day basis to you and the members of your family for an annual fee of $30.00 for an individual or $50.00 for you and your family.
July 1 through June 30. each year
All emergency calls 24 hours a day,7 days a week,365 days a year.
In the event that you or a member of your family require the EMS services, the Program Fee will cover the co-pay on your health care insurance, no matter how many times you may make use of the EMS services
All EMS services provided by the Talleyville Fire Company are billed to your healthcare insurance provider in the amount of $325.00. we accept the payment made by your health insurance carrier for the EMS services and you are not responsible for the co-payment as a result of your membership in the Emergency Ambulance Residential Service Program
In the event your health care insurance carrier makes a determination that the EMS services provided by the Talleyville Fire Company was not of a medical necessity, your are responsible for payment in the amount that would normally be paid under the Medicare contract for required ambulance service.
In the event that denial for payment is made by your insurance carrier, as indicated above, and you believe that your situation falls within the realm of a "medical necessity", you will need to secure a note from your physician attesting to the necessity of being transported by an ambulance. The Talleyville Fire Company will not refuse EMS services based on ability to pay.
The Talleyville Fire Company employs Emergency Medical Technicians trained in national certification standards on a 24 hour basis to provide the best in EMS services for you and your family. Extensive and on-going training for the technicians, medical supplies, two EMS units, Insurance and maintenance costs are funded by the program fees and the insurance carrier billing.
In cases of “Life Threatening Emergencies” we must transport all patients to the closest medical facility capable of handling the medical problem and in some cases “Medical Control” will dictate what hospital is best equipped for the emergency.
No. the EMS services are provided for emergency needs only. The emergency services which would normally require going to the hospital or trauma center. Ambulance transport for hospital admissions or discharge are NOT provided.
If we provide ambulance service to someone who does not subscribe to the Emergency Ambulance Residential Service Program, a charge in the amount of $325.00 will be made, leaving you responsible for all monies not covered by insurance carriers.
Subscriptions are open through the months of July and August.

Special Note
There may be times when the two Talleyville Fire Company Ambulances are in service providing EMS services to the other residents. When that occurs, your call for a medical emergency may result in an EMS unit from another fire company responding to your call.
If you receive an invoice from that fire company for services rendered, after your insurance carrier has paid the contract amount on your health care plan, send a copy of the remaining bill to the Talleyville Fire Company, P.O. Box 7025, Wilmington, DE 19803-9981.
