Training with New Air Packs - West Chester Fire Dept. Training Center

Wednesday, May 20, 2015
About 40 volunteer, part-time, and career staff members braved the frigid temperatures on Sunday January 23, 2011 to participate in Air pack training held at the West Chester Fire Department Training Center. The training program was necessary as the Chief’s Office has placed into service all new MSA FireHawk M7 Air Packs. These air packs come with The MSA Rescue Belt it is an emergency egress system designed to help firefighters rappel to safety, should they become trapped in an upper-story of a building. They are also equipped with MSA FireHawk Accountability System, allows tracking of air packs location while at an incident using wireless remote and software. Firefighters spent about five hours training with the air packs to become familiar with their operation utilizing the smokehouse, burn tower, and a confidence maze.
