Annual Talleyville Open House/Car Show - Concord Plaza - Silverside Rd
September 29, 2014
On Sunday September 29th, the Talleyville Fire Company hosted its annual Car Show/Open House to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware. With beautiful weather and numerous exhibits the event was fun for families with children of all ages. There were several displays offering fire prevention information, fire prevention children’s coloring books and helmets, and a Smoke Detector/Battery give away for those in need. There were also several engaging displays this year. All Talleyville apparatus was available for kids to tour. There was a Simulator to teach proper use of fire extinguishers. Wilmington Police were on hand to demonstrate their K-9 capabilities, and their Explosive Ordinance Robot. New Castle County Fireboard displayed their Mobile Incident Command Communications Truck F-100. Claymont Fire Company displayed their Urban Search and Rescue/Structural Collapse Truck. Several antique Fire apparatus were also displayed. Kids were also able to meet several characters: Batman, Elsa and Anna, Catwoman, Micky and Minnie Mouse etc. In addition to the Fire aspect of the event there was also a very impressive turn out of classic cars spanning many different decades. Talleyville would like to extend a special thank you to Wilmington PD, Claymont FD, Brandywine Hundred FD, New Castle County Fireboard, and all our sponsors, supporters, and volunteers that made this event a fun filled day for the families in our community.
