On Thursday, 6/24, after a 17 month hiatus due to Covid, the Talleyville Fire Company welcomed its first post-Covid Hero to the station, 10 year old Marge Nunez-Flores from Ecuador! Marge, her mother Gloria and younger sister Leah, have been in residence at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware for over 570 days while Marge is being treat at the A.I DuPont Hospital for Children. Marge and her family were picked up in E255 and given a tour of our district before arriving at the station. While at the station they were given a personalized tour, along with a display of the apparatus and equipment. Afterwards she was treated to her favorite lunch, pizza and fries, followed up with ice cream for dessert.
After lunch, Marge was presented with a plaque, along with a fire company Hero helmet, tee shirt and badge welcoming her to the Talleyville Fire Company. Afterwards, on her ride back to RMH, she was able to build her own trophy at Crowne Trophy Shop. The pictures tell the rest of the story.
The Talleyville Fire Company is celebrating its 10th year of our Heroes Program. During that time, we have proudly welcomed over 30 Heroes to the station and look forward to welcoming more in the future.
